The Sunday Market’s Holiday Market – Posada Navideña

The Sunday Market closes out its third season with a celebration of Posada Navideña, a holiday acknowledgment of the Mexican heritage found in our beloved California Delta.  With several of the Market’s regular vendors proudly claiming Mexican heritage and its regular food vendor being Taqueria Mexico of Rio Vista, the Market vendors and volunteers happily embraced this theme for their 2022 Holiday Market.

The Holiday Market takes place on December 11th, 2022, from Noon to 4:00 p.m. in the clubhouse and an adjacent Festivity Tent in the central communal corridor of Park Delta Bay, 922 W. Brannan Island Road, on the California Delta Loop.  The Market will feature its regular vendors with hand-made soaps, candles, doggie bows, curated linens, painted glassware, scented oils, jewelry, jams, and so much more!  Browse with gift-giving in mind, or for a special treat for yourself or your home!  The Market also welcomes the return of the Tiny Bakeshop, this time featuring its special, house-made doggie treats, for that special pup on your Christmas List!  Silo Farm Organics of Walnut Grove, the Market’s regular Farm Stand, will be on hand with their winter offerings.  All throughout the Market, visitors will find unique, Delta-made creations to delight the senses and fill your homes and your hearts with holiday cheer at a higher quality and lower price than you can imagine!

When you get tired and hungry, Taqueria Mexico’s fare will warm your tummy while you sit and people-watch.  Pair your tacos with a cold beer or Sangria sold by the Market’s sponsor, the Delta Bay Foundation,  as a fundraiser to help launch its fourth Market season.  Children can enjoy a turn at la piñata, provided by Taqueria Mexico for its guests to enjoy.  Live music by the Market’s regular entertainer, Randy Carey, will keep your toes tappin’ and your fingers snappin’ while you mingle with family, neighbors, and friends.

The Holiday Market features several opportunities for special gifting this year.  In conjunction with the River Delta Fire District, the Holiday Market invites you to bring new, unwrapped toys for the Marine’s Toys for Tots program, which will be distributed to both Solano County and Sacramento County children.  GraceIsTheKey, a Modesto-area not-for-profit which hosts weekly dinners for unhoused citizens in the Modesto area, will be on hand to collect monetary donations for their Christmas In The Park program.  The Friends of the Isleton Public Library’s used book stall presents book sales to benefit the programs at the Isleton Public Library.  Visitors to the Holiday Market are encouraged to do what they can, if they can, to the help each of these worthy programs.

Market volunteers and the Sunday RDFD crew will make sure the Toys for Tots delivery gets made.  Children will also enjoy a surprise visit from the firefighters who keep our community safe, who will cruise up to the Holiday Market sometime during the mid-afternoon hours, assuming they are not needed on duty.  Welcome the brave First Responders who battle blazes that threaten our home and rescue victims of the accidents which plague our roadways!  We cannot thank them enough!

The Sunday Market appreciates all of the support it has gotten from the Park Delta Bay management and staff over the last three years.  Market vendors and volunteers love their loyal and regular customers, and hope you will come wish everyone “Feliz navidad” as the Sunday Market brings its successful third year to a close with this very special Holiday Market.
