The Sunday Market Celebrates Brannan Island SRA

The Park Delta Bay roving reporter has learned that the vendors and volunteers of the Delta Bay Foundation’s Sunday Market will pack their wares and head over to the Brannan Island State Recreational Area for their July 09th Sunday Market!

Brannan Island SRA re-opened earlier this year after a hiatus and refresh.  One of the jewels of the California State Park system, Brannan Island SRA sports several hundred acres, a truly gorgeous 10-lane boat launch, and 140 camp sites.  The Sunday Market will set-up in the Windy Cove site, directly across from the park’s main entrance at 17645 CA-160, Rio Vista, CA 94571.

The July 09th Sunday Market will run from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.   The roster includes fifteen vendors  offering a wide variety of creative items for your shopping enjoyment.  Browse their booths for yourself, your home, or gift-giving.  There will be something for everyone, including fresh-baked goods; jams and jellies; soaps; candles;  crystals; linen purses, bags and tableware; jewelry; paintings and artcards; and turned-wood objects both beautiful and functional.   Yvette Ervin, who recently joined the Sunday Market during her seasonal stay in the Delta, presents her beautiful crystal pieces and spiritual medallions.  Visitors to her booth can learn about Tarot card reading and the Reiki method of healing.

Randy Garrett, whose work gives reclaimed wood a second chance, will have his lathe running to demonstrate his craft by making tops for children.  “One top free of charge to each little one,” Garrett said.  He’ll be at the end of Market row, so the Delta Winds don’t blow sawdust in the Tiny Bakeshop’s cinnamon rolls!  Garrett, who lives at Brothers’ Island on the Delta Loop, made his Sunday Market debut at the June 25th market.  His bowls, boxes, wine stoppers, and other turned-wood items delighted the Sunday Market crowd.  Garrett also introduced visual artist Tracy McCarthy to the Sunday Market, and McCarthy will show for the first time at the special event on July 09th.

Long-time Sunday Market standards have broadened their offerings and will debut some of their new work.  Lavender Lovelies has gone from soaps and sachets to seasoned salt and flavored sugars.  The Tiny Bakeshop has added gluten-friendly cookies to her popular menu, which includes scrumptious cinnamon rolls as well as small loaves of bread suitable for Sunday service.  Let’s Get Sauced! expanded its repertoire with handpies in 2022, and has added gluten-free crusts to the list of offerings most weeks.  Owner Heather Sousa still makes and sells her delicious jellies and sauces.  In the hand-crafted department, Kimmy by Kim Carlson now features small and large bags, zippered pouches, microwave warmers and many other creative and beautifully sewn items.    If spiritual journaling appeals to you, the Garden of Weedin’ has what you need to get started on your personal path.  Several visual artists, including long-time vendor Rachel Warren, will bring their beautiful art for your shopping delight.

No Sunday Market would be complete without delicious food from Taqueria Mexico, presented alongside the Beer and Beverage tent sponsored by the Delta Bay Foundation.  Of course, with all that shopping, you’ll need to rest and enjoy the musical stylings of the Sunday Market favorite, Randy Carey, and his special guest, singer/songwriter Doug Brewer.

The Sunday Market’s Special Event at Brannan Island SRA is made possible by the Delta Bay Foundation and the courtesy and cooperation of the state park concessionaire and staff.  For information about camping at Brannan Island SRA, call 916-777-4004.  For information about the Sunday Market, contact the secretary of the Delta Bay Foundation, Corinne Corley, at 816-520-9152 or by email at ccorleyjd@gmail.com.  The Delta Bay Foundation is an independent California nonprofit with 501(c)(3) exempt status.  Its mission is to promote the community, commerce, conservation, and culture of the California Delta.  It does not charge its vendors for participation.  All of its vendors have roots in the Delta by family, work, or community.
