The Holiday Market Returns to Park Delta Bay

The Delta Bay Foundation will post its third annual Holiday Market in the community room and on the veranda of the clubhouse at Park Delta Bay on Sunday, December 10th, from Noon to 4:00 p.m.  Although the Foundation started its Sunday Market in 2020, the second pandemic lockdown caused the cancellation of that year’s Holiday Market.  The vendors and volunteers started the tradition in 2021, and continue it this year to the delight of their beloved visitors!

Foundation secretary Corinne Corley estimates that around fifteen sellers will have their hand-crafted delights for show and sale that day.  “We allow our participants to schedule into the event on a tentative basis, ” she explained.  “Sometimes one or two extra arrive!”  Corley described the arts-and-craft fair as the Foundation’s way of promoting small business in the California Delta.  “Our mission is to promote the culture, community, commerce, and conservation of our beautiful region,” Corley noted.  “By giving Delta artists and artisans a place to reach customers right here on the Delta Loop, we strive to encourage both creativity and entrepeneurship.”

Shoppers at the Holiday Market will find plenty to delight.  Whether for gift-giving, decorating your home, or a special treat for yourself, you’ll have no end of selection.  Sunday Market artists offer hand-crocheted beanies and booties, soy candles, lavender sprays and soaps, stickers, cards, and inspirational holiday decor.  Choose a hand-made afghan, a piece of original art, or a glittery jewel from any one of the makers who regularly sell at the Market and some visiting and new artists.

Additionally, each purchase at the Holiday Market will entitle you to an entry in one of three Customer Appreciation Drawings.  Three lucky customers will each win a basket filled with a selection of items from vendors throughout the market.  “We want our customers to know that their loyalty means a lot to us,” Corley remarked.  “Whether it’s a sachet from ‘Lavender Lovelies’, a jar of jam from ‘Let’s Get Sauced!’ or a sweet little notebook from the Biblical Garden, you’ll find something to delight in each basket if you’re lucky enough to have one of three tickets drawn and be present when we draw at 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.”

The littlest visitors will have a special spot in the Market for holiday merry-making.  Though Santa has too many pressing tasks to be able to make a special trip for the event, the North Pole has selected a local resident to lead the fun.  Each visiting child will be able to decorate a Holiday Ornament and take it home with them!  There are plenty on hand, but the Market crew encourages early shopping to make sure that your kiddo doesn’t miss out on this special activity!

The Sunday Market invites you to purchase a cold drink and a treat while you shop.  Robin Pack’s Tiny Bakeshop will delight you with cottage-kitchen-made pastries.  The Delta Bay Foundation will be raising funds by selling drinks at the counter.  Heather Sousa’s Let’s Get Sauced! should have their special hand-pies.  While you enjoy your snack, listen to the delightful guitar-playing and smooth voice of Sunday Market Favorite Randy Carey.

As always, please bring  a non-perishable food item to donate to our collection for local agencies serving our neighbors in need.  This Holiday season, as always, it is far better to give than to receive.
