Set Sail for Summer’s End at the Sunday Market

All good things must end!  The Sunday Market’s 2022 summer season ends on August 28th with a special Pirate-Themed event!  The fun-loving vendors will have lots of treasure for their visitors to peruse.  They won’t make you walk the plank if you complain, but they will celebrate your discoveries when you unearth Captain Jack’s booty!

The Sunday Market vendors have a particular fondness for pirates since their new Sunday Market Shop at the Delta Bay Marina has its own pirate mascot.  As you can see from the photo, the Delta Bay Marina pirate approves of a purchase at the shop.  A recent visitor to the fledgling Sunday Market Shop at the Delta Bay Marina, Jeffrey B., and his son, purchased earrings made by Sunday Market newbie vendor Montana, who also works part-time at the Marina.  Ahoy there, mateys!  We think you got a good deal on a lovely bauble!

The August 28th market also reprises the annual appearance by the River Delta Fire District, for which Sunday Market vendors will be collecting money.  The Sunday Market sponsor, the Delta Bay Foundation, will present its yearly donation to the River Delta Fire District which serves the area in which the Marina and Park Delta Bay are located.  Duty permitting, (meaning: no fires require their attention), the Sunday crew will be on hand to talk with visitors about their work, which provides an invaluable service to our community.  If they can bring a truck, they will do so, and kids will be able to climb aboard and see what the fire-fighting experience feels like from the driver’s seat!

The Taqueria Mexico Restaurant of Rio Vista and Isleton has become the Sunday Market’s food vendor, and they will return for the August 28th session.  Bryan Keith will provide live music throughout the day.   A dozen vendors will sell under the Market tent and surrounding pop-ups, with everything from goats-milk lavender soap to soy candles to hand-made linens and hand-painted glassware.  The Sunday Market provides an excellent opportunity to come out to the beautiful California Delta Loop and enjoy the Delta breeze on the levee of the San Joaquin.

The Sunday Market will have just three more Market Sundays in 2022:  The August 28th session; the Harvest Market on October 16th; and the indoor Holiday Market on December 11th.  Market Hours are 10am to 2pm, and the outdoor Markets are held in the central meadow at Park Delta Bay.  For more information on the Sunday Market, email the volunteer Sunday Market manager, Corinne Corley, at ccorleyjd@gmail.com or phone her at 816-520-9152.  For directions to Park Delta Bay or to inquire about overnight RV parking, call the Park office at 916-777-5588.  For information about docking or berthing at the Delta Bay Marina, call 916-777-4153.  See you at the Sunday Market’s last-blast-before-summer’s-past-pirate-themed Sunday Market on August 28th!

The Saturday crew of the River Delta Fire District enjoyed fabulous fare cooked by the Saturday crew of Taqueria Mexico at the special Loopfest edition of the Sunday Market at Park Delta Bay on August 20th.
