Fall Family Fun!

A sneak-peek at G-Row’s tiny houses at the Park.

The Delta Bay Foundation celebrates autumn in the park’s central meadow on the weekend of October 15th & 16th.  Two events bring summer to an official close but launch the cool season in style!

On both Saturday and Sunday, the Delta Bay Foundation hosts Camp Tiny House 2022.  This event celebrates the alternative style of housing known as the tiny house on wheels.  While the Delta Bay Foundation encourages all sorts of nontraditional housing as a way of conserving resources, the focus of CTH2022, as with the other five years, is the actual “tiny house” rather than RVs, trailers, or mobile homes.

At Camp Tiny House 2022, the premier builder Pacifica Tiny Homes will provide a model for tours from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.  Of the thirteen tiny houses at Park Delta Bay, three are Pacifica models.  Those owner-occupied homes will also be open for tour on one or both of the days, along with others in the park by various builders.  Each home reflects its owner’s unique style.

On Saturday, Nikki Panditi will speak on building community and lead the audience through a challenging and enlightening hands-on experiment in tiny living.  Her goal will be to explore choices, both personal and communal, which confront us when we choose to “go tiny”.  Tim Anderson, Delta pig farmer and well-known, long-time figure in the world of sustainable living, will join forces with Betsy Morris of Planning for Sustainable Living.  Rounding out the day’s talks just ahead of the tours will be Matt Quisenberry, of Slab City and Deltamaker Farm, to provide his unique insight on living off-grid.

On Sunday, the talks will move indoors and the panel will include one of the owners of Pacifica Tiny Homes, to address the ins-and-outs of the “going tiny” using a tiny house builder.  Presentations on both Saturday and Sunday will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by tours of the homes at Park Delta Bay.  The Pacifica model and at least one van will be open for touring/viewing all day.

The Sunday Market’s Harvest Market will take place that Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Fifteen  vendors will show and sell their arts and crafts under and around the big tent.  Randy Carey, singer and songwriter, returns as the day’s live entertainment.  The Market will provide an autumn photo set-up for the young and the young-at-heart to capture your smiles and laughter on your phone or camera!

At the Sunday Market, you can buy jams, jellies, soaps, candles, stained glass, Bible-themed inspirational journals, jewelry, hand-pies, and so much more!  Every booth has amazing items hand-crafted or vintage-curated by one of the market vendors.  No two items are exactly alike when they are hand-made!  Shop for yourself, your home, or for holiday gift-giving!

Delores of Biblical Gardens and Melissa of Lavender Lovelies have a together moment!

The regular vendors will be joined by three or four sellers who only come for the Harvest Market, so don’t miss out!  Silo Farm Organics will reprise its farm stand with fall favorites, joined by the Delta Tails Farm with its Ryer Island free-range eggs.

On both days, Taqueria Mexico will sell tacos and other fare beside a beer tent featuring Asian Brothers Brewing Company products.  Net proceeds from the beer tent will go to the Delta Bay Foundation which sponsors these events without charge to the vendors or visitors.  The Delta Bay Foundation is a California 501(c)(3) not-for-profit established to cultivate and conserve the commerce, community, and culture of the California Delta.

It’s all happening in our central meadow, so come on out!  We hear the weather will be wonderful!  Up at the Marina, the kayaks are still in the water.  The seasons turn, but the banks of the San Joaquin still shine.  For information about day-berthing or a slip in the Delta Bay Marina, call 916-777-4153.  For directions to the Park or information about parking your tiny house, RV, or trailer, call the Park office at 916-777-5588.  To learn about the Delta Bay Foundation or the Sunday Market, contact Foundation secretary and Market Manager Corinne Corley, by email at ccorleyjd@gmail.com or phone, 816-520-9152.

See you at Camp Tiny House 2022 and the Sunday Market’s Harvest Market!
