Delta Bay at the Tiny Living Fest

Park Delta Bay has a growing tiny house community in addition to the time-tested RVs, including 5th wheels, Class As, motor homes, and trailers.  Currently, fourteen owner-occupied tiny houses and one skoolie park on the west side of the park on a 1/4 mile gravel road circling the spacious, serene meadow.

The Delta Bay Foundation promotes all things relating to the growth, preservation, and enrichment of the Sacramento Delta, including the concept of alternative dwellings such as tiny houses.  As part of that promotion, staff of the park and members of the tiny house community visit festivals in the surrounding area, to hobknob with others who live tiny, build tiny, promote tiny living, and even the tiny-curious.

On Sunday, 06 October 2019, several members of the community visited the Tiny Living Fest in Richmond, California, sponsored by the United Tiny House Association.  In addition to sharing the story of our community and thoughts about tiny house communities in general, we got to see how others manifest the concept of tiny living.  Companies such as ESCAPE and Core Housing Solutions have unique and well-branded products, a national or regional presence, and thoughtful, polished presentations.  But the DIYers also represented:  Everything from skoolies to vans to box-trucks.  Our favorites included an LA couple (@soellife) getting ready to start a journey to South America; a couple from the Bay Area (@rags2richeys) dreaming of shipping their truck to Hawaii; and a traveling family of four, plus a dog, determined to reinvent parenting (@afueravida).  Special thanks to our own Louis, who charmed the crowd with his French accent as he spoke of the #tinylife which he and husband Helix share at Park Delta Bay.

Please enjoy a few random shots of the #TinyLivingFest; and don’t forget to calendar next year’s two-day Camp Tiny House, May 2 – 3, 2020, which promises to be an amazing event, with lots of surprises for all our #tinyhouse enthusiastic friends!
