The Delta Bay Foundation hosts its 5th Annual River Delta Fire District Day at the Sunday Market on August 11th, from 10am to 2pm, in the central meadow at Park Delta Bay. The vendors and volunteers welcome a crew from the River Delta Fire District and invite visitors to enjoy their family-friendly games and demonstrations while shopping and enjoying the splendor of a late summer day.
A dozen vendors will show and sell their arts & crafts. Singer-songwriter Randy Carey delights with his classic bluesy rock ‘n’ roll. Taqueria Mexico returns with its authentic Mexican fare. All of this takes place in the beauty of the California Delta.
Throughout the Market, red buckets provide an opportunity for donating spare change to the all-volunteer fire department. Each vendor and some area businesses, including the Isleton Coffee Company and the McBoodery Deli, will donate items for gift baskets.
Tickets for the drawings will be available in the beer & drinks tent to all customers, with a requested donation to the fire department. At the end of the market, a firefighter will draw three lucky winners will go home with the delightful baskets.
Children visiting the Market in past River Delta Fire District Days have enjoyed exploring the firetrucks and “putting out the fire” on a “burning” display house. Chief Cutino promises to bring activities and give-aways for the kids and some of their newest equipment to display and demonstrate. As the Chief says, the mission of the district is “to making the community a safer place to live, work, play and travel.” Meeting those who live in their district provides an opportunity to talk about how their “training, equipment and facilities meet the needs of the citizens and communities” that they live to serve. ”
And who doesn’t love a fire truck?
The Sunday Market will provide its usual array of locally made and curated products, from soaps to jewelry to candles to hand-crocheted wares of all varieties. Silo Farms of Walnut Grove will bring their amazing vegetables to the market, including their summer crop of gorgeous heirloom tomatoes. Taqueria Mexico returns to support the fundraiser for the fire district by selling their fantastic, authentic fare at event-pricing for customers of the Market. The Foundation will sponsor a beer & drinks tent, the proceeds of which will be donated to the River Delta Fire District.
This is the last Sunday Market of the 2024 summer season. The Delta Bay Foundation has been functioning on a grant from an anonymous donor, which has enabled it to invite Delta-area vendors to show and sell without a booth or table fee. Park Delta Bay provides space for the Foundation activities without charge as a community service. Located at 922 W.
