The Delta Bay Foundation delves into the Dog Days of Summer with the July 14th Sunday Market, from 10am to 2pm in the central meadow at Park Delta Bay, 922 W. Brannan Island Road on the Delta Loop. Arts, crafts, and artisan makers will gather to show and sell their Delta wares. The Foundation will host its beer tent with food and soft drinks also available for visitors to the Market.
This Market features a special event to celebrate the Dog Days of Summer. Rotts of Friends Animal Rescue will bring an adoption event to the park. Rotts of Friends is a non-profit organization located in Woodland, California. It dedicate its efforts to rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding ‘Forever Homes’ for abused and neglected dogs/animals. Rotts of Friends will bring available animals and talk to interested adopters about their procedure. They provide training for the animals whom they place and they also give guidance to the humans with whom they place the dogs. They remind us, “No dog is perfect and even a good natured, obedient and trained dog may create stress in the home initially.” Their skill and dedication allows for the smoothest transition. As their website assures interested parties, “all ROF rescues come with FREE lifetime obedience offered at [their] facility by trainer Renee Lancaster with Yolo Canine Academy”. If you are interested in adoption, come with all of your questions for Renee and her colleagues.
New vendors join Sunday Market regulars for the July event. Happy Dale Creations presents custom printed T-shirts and other handmade gifts catering to boat owners and dog lovers. Owner Cathy Miskow sends a hearty “Ahoy” from her boat, vowing to get into the spirit of the special faire with adorable mugs and decor. “This is MY theme!” she told market manager Corinne Corley. “I’ve been waiting for this one!” Dogs are her passion, and the Delta is her happy place. She even has shirts that proclaim as much! Don’t miss this special vendor!
The Sunday Market recently welcomed Amber’s Creations with her hand-made gnomes and returning vendor Anna Leontine Ortiz of ALO Boutiques. Both joined the market at the June event and return for the Dog Days of Summer. Silo Farms makes its first 2024 Sunday Market appearance, and promises to have its early-summer vegetables. Customers from the Delta Loop love having Ali and Jenn bring their amazing produce over from their farm stand in Walnut Grove. There will be something for everyone — handmade jewelry, lavender candles, stickers, T-shirts, gnomes, and so much more! Additionally, several long-time residents of Park Delta Bay will set up flea market and yard sale tables, expanding the Sunday Market offerings from hand-crafted items to second-hand and vintage fare. Lavender Lovelies has plans for more gift items, and other market regulars will be replenishing favorite items.
Market regular entertainer Randy Carey returns to keep us mellow and happy with his originals and classic rock and folk standards. “Delta time is the right time!” Randy chortles, as he strums on his fabulous guitar from under the shade trees. Vendors, volunteers, and visitors alike couldn’t agree more.
The weather promises to be its usually loveliness. On the banks of the San Joaquin, under the towering trees, a dozen vendors will gather. The Sunday Market continues to be the little market that could. Park Delta Bay provides space to the Delta Bay Foundation’s events without charge as a courtesy to the community. The Foundation continues to offer vendor space free to Delta creatives thanks to an anonymous grant. The Delta Bay Foundation is a California not-for-profit corporation with 501(c)(3) tax status which has as its mission the promotion of the culture, community, commerce, and conservation of the California Delta. The Sunday Market provides a venue for family fun and for Delta-area artists and makers to showcase their talent.
