Park Delta Bay proudly welcomes the fall events sponsored by the Delta Bay Foundation for the fifth year in our central meadow and community room.
On October 21st and 22nd, a full roster of amazing folks active in the development of, and advocacy for tiny house communities throughout Northern California will speak and hold round-the-table sessions for those who are “tiny curious” at the annual Camp Tiny House. Park Delta Bay currently has fourteen tiny houses on site, eleven of which are owner-occupied full-time. As the first legal tiny house community in the area, Park Delta Bay has welcomed RVIA-certified tiny homes for the last seven years. The Delta Bay Foundation promotes community in the California Delta, and tiny houses represent a forward-thinking approach to the statewide housing crisis.
Presenters at Camp Tiny House include folks who manage tiny house villages, develop co-housing and intentional living communities, and advocate for government acceptance of tiny houses on the local and state level. Following the series of talks on Saturday and the round-the-table discussion on Sunday, five tiny house dwellers at Park Delta Bay will open their homes for tours. Each house represents the unique vision of its owner. Visitors will learn about the journey of each home owner to their life in the tiny house section of the Park.
On Sunday, the Park will also be the site of the Sunday Market’s Harvest Market. More than a dozen artists and artisans, including several new vendors and some visiting artists from the tiny house speaker’s line-up, will show and sell their wares. Randy Carey returns to entertain the visitors, volunteers, and vendors of the Sunday Market. As Randy always says, “Delta Time Is The Right Time!” So grab a beer or beverage from the Foundation’s fundraiser tent, select a box lunch catered by the Rio Vista Bakery and Cafe, and sit yourself down in the shade for a spell! Then do some more shopping, and as the market draws to a close, wander down Tiny House Row to check out the adorable tiny homes and see if you have what it takes to “go tiny”!
In addition to the box lunches, the Tiny Bakeshop will have its famous pastries; and “Let’s Get Sauced!” will be “on hand” with sweet hand-pies. Other market vendors offer a wide array of locally-made items, including candles, herbed oils, paintings, jewelry, soaps, and so much more! Silo Farms of Walnut Grove will feature its fall bounty. All in the beautiful setting of the California Delta Loop!
Hours for Camp Tiny House are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days. Speakers on Saturday will present from 10:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with tiny house tours thereafter. On Sunday, the Harvest Market takes place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., during which many of Saturday’s speakers will participate in open discussions at tables in the Beer Tent area. After 2:00 p.m., visitors will be welcomed in the tiny house section of the park, where half of the owner-occupied tiny homes will again be open for tours.
For directions to the Park, call the park office at 916-777-5588. For more information about the Delta Bay Foundation, the Harvest Market, and Camp Tiny House, call Corinne Corley, Foundation secretary, at 816-520-9152 (that’s not a typo — she’s a Missouri ex-pat!). The Delta Bay Foundation is a California not-for-profit with 501(c)(3) exempt status. Due to a generous grant from an anonymous donor, the Foundation has not charged any Market vendor since the inception of the Sunday Market in 2020. Park Delta Bay provides space for Foundation activities without charge as a service to the community.
See you at #CampTinyHouse2023 and the Sunday Market’s Harvest Market!
