All About The Tiny Houses: Camp Tiny House Spring 2019 Recap

G-Row at Park Delta Bay

We never dreamed so many people would drive out to the Sacramento Delta to hear us talk about our favorite subject, tiny living, and tour our homes!  We feared that Friday’s rain would discourage people!  We kept watching the sky for signs of storm clouds!

But the rain stayed away and the people came.  Pale blue skies, friendly clouds, and gentle air helped our guests enjoy the day in our beautiful park.  The tiny house residents delighted the standing-room-only community room with tales of designing, building, moving, and outfitting their tiny houses.  Nick Mosley of California Tiny House provided experienced insight into codes, zoning, and the technicalities of the build. Orrin Anderson, a teacher from the Sacramento area, shared details his tiny house building project with his students. Derek Campbell, DIY tiny house builder with  his wife Kelly Pipe Campbell, @TinyHouseBigSky, led the panel and talked about their adventures in designing and building a fully RVIA-compliant home. Each of the tiny house dwellers on the panel had a unique and fascinating viewpoint. Audience members, the tiny-curious and those in various stages of #goingtiny, posed challenging and thoughtful questions.

Following the panel discussion, the bountiful potluck lunch provided an opportunity for one-on-one sharing.  Then the tours began!  The tiny house community hopes that some of the visitors took pictures and will send them to us — none of them had a chance to so much as snap a hasty frame, because 200 people came through the houses with questions, compliments, and stories of their own adventures as they explore #thetinylife.

Here’s a few photographs from the morning, with hopes that anyone who attended and has pictures from inside the tiny houses will send them to us. You can email them to Angel’s Haven dweller Corinne Corley:  ccorleyjd@gmail.com.  If you want to watch the video of the panel discussion about #goingtiny, click HERE.  The actual even starts at five minutes, and goes for about one hour and forty-five minutes.  Watch the room fill as our visitors arrive!

Thank you all for making the April 2019 Camp Tiny House a huge success! Special thanks to everyone on the Park Delta Bay staff, for their amazing efforts at set-up, traffic-directing, clean-up, and beautifying the grounds.  See you in the fall, at the next Camp Tiny House!
